How can a fly killer be environmentally friendly?
Fly killers use electricity to light the lamps and power the electrified grid (where applicable) so by using energy saving lamps power consumption can be reduced.
In order to run the lamps in a fly killer a ballast or lighting gear is required. This makes sure the lamps are fed the right amount of power so they neither blow prematurely (if over powered) nor fail to light if under powered.
Typically, lighting circuits have used iron ballasts which are energy inefficient. New electronic ballasts are far more efficient which saves not only energy, but also money.
The new Insect-a-clear Vulcan 3 is a good example being almost a third cheaper to run than a comparable 3 lamp unit using conventional ballasts.
